Press Release: ISI and NMF Advance India–Indonesia Maritime Cooperation in the Andaman–Aceh Corridor

Indo-Pacific Strategic Intelligence (ISI) and the National Maritime Foundation (NMF) convened a Track 1.5 dialogue on 9 September 2026 to explore pathways for strengthening India–Indonesia maritime cooperation through the Andaman–Aceh Corridor. Bringing together researchers and practitioners from both countries, the webinar examined the corridor’s strategic significance and its potential to support greater connectivity, trade, maritime security, and blue economy cooperation under the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative (IPOI).
The discussion also highlighted the importance of strategic autonomy, institutional trust, and sustained engagement in translating shared interests into practical cooperation. Particular attention was given to opportunities for strengthening connectivity between the Andaman region and Aceh, including through trade, ports, energy, and maritime cooperation.
