Download Monograf: Forging Strategic Convergence: India - Indonesia Defence Partnership in a Shifting Indo-Pacific

At #IPRD2025, the National Maritime Foundation (NMF) and Indonesia’s Indo-Pacific Strategic Intelligence (ISI) launched their first joint monograph, “Forging Strategic Convergence: India-Indonesia Defence Partnership in a Shifting Indo-Pacific”. Developed under Project CHAKRA, the monograph brings together months of dynamic dialogue—webinars, expert consultations and deep-dive analysis—to produce fresh, actionable insights. It showcases how meaningful collaboration between academia, government and industry can spark new thinking and chart clear, forward-looking pathways for defence cooperation in the Indo-Pacific.

Bound by close geography, shared maritime traditions and centuries of cultural connection, India and Indonesia continue to deepen a partnership anchored in their common aim of ensuring peace, stability and prosperity across the Indo-Pacific. The monograph charts this evolving relationship, from the early Defence Cooperation Agreement to the growing focus on defence technology, industry collaboration and joint capacity-building. It also examines Indonesia’s ongoing military modernisation, India’s recent defence industry reforms, the emerging avenues and challenges, for building a more resilient and future-focused defence industrial partnership between the two nations.
